Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education Grant

The primary objective of the Fund for Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) grant is to rethink career exploration for students and offer a online program that is informative, developmentally appropriate, and tailored toward guiding students through the critical process of making strong, informed career decisions. ​

New Mexico was awarded this grant in 2021

Purpose and Priority

The purpose of the FIPSE grant is to: ​

  • Increase student awareness of many careers and increase teacher/counselor knowledge of education and training pathways for careers to they can provide guidance. ​
  • Identify education and training options (including non-college programs such as work-based learning opportunities; military training, and sponsored training) that enable entry into or advancement in those careers.

Project Objectives and Outcomes

  • Improve attitudes about College and Career Readiness
  • Increased College and Career Readiness​
  • Increased College Enrollment
  • Greater Awareness of Viable Career Options, including STEM Careers
  • Increased Engagement in Learning​
  • Higher Course Completion Rates and Performance on Assessments​
  • Improvements in Equitable Workforce Participation
  • Enhanced Match Between Skill Preparation and Workforce Needs​
  • Greater Employer Satisfaction with Education Practices in Schools​

The C2C program seeks to enhance college and career readiness throughout New Mexico. Pathway2Careers is available at no cost to all New Mexico Schools, teachers, and students thanks to a Federal Grant through NMPED.
